The 45th Klang Music Festival 2019 – “金韵绕皇城”

Concert Details:
Date: 20 July 2019
Location: Grand Centro Ballroom, Klang

In collaboration with Klang Chamber Choir, La Voce Choir, Da Capo Choir and Hin Hua High School Choir, The Singaholics joined the 45th Klang Music Festival 2019 as a part of the full choir to perform the ancient historical <Grand Canal of China> which consists of six movements and Malaysia’s popular folk song <Rasa Sayang>. The ambience of the music festival sparked a light inside everyone attending and it was indeed a memorable night!

We were extremely honored to be part of the festival to spread the joy and gaiety, and we look forward to any collaboration again in the future!

Razz Ma Tazz

Dazzling the audience with oldies, showtunes and pop songs, The Singaholics put up an amazing performance of fun dancing and sang their hearts out with the equally amazing collaborating choir Gaudeamus and SEGI College Orchestra and Band. Bringing to an audience of musical enjoyment throughout the ages: The Lady is A Tramp from 1937 musical “Babes in Arms”, a sexy samba number Mas Que Nada by Jorge Ben Jor and Thinking Out Loud by Ed Sheeran. What an experience!

“A World To Imagine: A Concert By Youth For Youth”
– a ChildAid Asia event

We were extremely honoured to be invited to perform for ChildAid Asia to raise funds for disadvantaged youths and children.

We are so grateful we got to share a stage with so many local and international talents. Even though our role was only in performing, we’re happy to have been able to be part of this effort that raised RM71,000 for the National Cancer Society of Malaysia (NCSM) and ChildAid Asia Kuala Lumpur.

We are definitely looking out for future opportunities to impact our local communities on a much larger scale!

2016 “歌声悠扬寻知音” Choir Concert

The Singaholics traveled all the way to this beautiful southern Malaysia state for this first ever choir concert in Segamat. 

Aside from singing our own pieces, we partnered with 永乐盲人合唱团 & Batu Pahat 惠安公会合唱团 to present another 2 Mandarin pieces to the audience. It was an eye-opening and warming moment as we exchanged our thoughts and experiences with singers of different generations and backgrounds.

We highly appreciate the supportive Segamat communities and neighborhood who spared their time to indulge in this wonderful evening full of voices and colors. It also served as a wake up for youth singers like us that there are so much to love and joy to be spread via choral singing.

Home Alone Christmas Special

A joint collaboration between the infamous Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra, Malaysian Philharmonic Youth Orchestra, Kuala Lumpur Children’s Choir & The Singaholics, it was a special evening to us as we set our foot to perform in this world-class theatre with a bunch of top-notch home-grown musicians. Home Alone is the beloved family comedy about a young boy who is accidentally left “home alone” when his family takes off for a vacation over the holiday season. With a complete screening of Home Alone, we have performed live John Williams’s memorable score, including the theme song “Somewhere in My Memory” plus several traditional Christmas carols.

IMU Chariofare 2019

IMU Chariofare 2019 – Live.Run.Love, consists of a Charity Run and Carnival dedicated to raising funds for the beneficiaries to serve the less fortunate. There were food and beverages, exciting games, performances as well as free medical and oral health screening.
 
We’re so honoured to be part of this annual charitable event where funds raised were all channeled to serve the underserved community! We hope that the audience were delighted by our performance.
 
As their theme goes “Uniting hearts”, we’ll continue to unite hearts with our singing and to sing with our uniting hearts.

TEDx IMU 2018

Being invited to perform for a TEDx event was a great pleasure to us. It was the first time for many of the singers to perform in such a setting, but it has never been an obstacle to us to deliver good performances. We were so happy to hear good feedback from the audience 🙂
 
We also discovered a new beatboxer among the newly joined members while preparing for this gig! What’s more exciting than finding new talents among the members?

IMU BALL 2018: Le Rêverie

It is always nice to be able to perform for IMU Ball. This year is no exception.
 
In this performance, Some Nights was a fresh challenge to us, as we have not attempted songs in that style with a small group of singers. After our performance at IMU Ball, we also got ourselves an invitation to perform in a TEDx talk which was to be held in IMU!

After enjoying the winter themed songs from our Chapter 3: 0 Degrees concert, we were invited to perform 2 songs at this local art exhibition.

We were more than happy to sing alongside many other local artists and performers in such a big hall full of art by talented locals 🙂 It was truly a fun experiene and we’d go back just for the art alone!

GoalGreen – Save The Earth 2017

As part of Sunway Group’s initiative to support the 18 Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) movement, the GoalGreen was organized to demonstrate the group’s effort in creating a sustainable and green environment.

The Singaholics was invited as the guest performer to connect all stakeholders present using our voices. The song “We Are The World”. Written by Michael Jackson and Lionel Richie to be sung by a group of artist for Africa in 1985, this song certainly reminds everyone the importance of preserving our mother nature. 

Proud to be part of the group’s initiatives to save the earth.

China Press 70th Anniversary Gala Dinner

Founded in 1946, China Press is one of the oldest and most influential Chinese newspaper in Malaysia. To celebrate its 70th year of establishment and milestone, a grand Gala dinner is organized with a series of performances (Lion Dance, 二十四节令鼓, Dance, Magic & Sing). 

Being the first performer of the day, we started “Stand By Me” when the lights were dim, giving the audiences a big surprise. We were glad and honoured to perform alongside Malaysia’s most prominent artist too like 黄一飞, 以格 & 黎升铭. 

Thank you China Press for the free flow of beer and inviting us to this prestigious moment that marked its 70th anniversary. We hope that one day later The Singaholics would reach the same milestone in becoming the leading choir group in Malaysia, sharing the joy of choral singing to the public.

University Tunku Abdul Rahman 2016 Promenade

We are strongly impressed by the organizing team who made this event one of the best performing venues ever had. Having a prom night by the seaside was like a dream came true.

Each singer was given a dedicated cordless mic and performed a series of songs of different genres to rock the night!

Once again, thank you for having us and subsiding our accommodation and transportation. None other performance could be cooler and more romantic than this one 🙂

Back to CHS Yumcha Alumni Gathering

Catholic High School (CHS) is the second home to many of our singers. The Singaholics’s root could be traced all the way back to 2012 when we belonged to Melodious Singers (aka CHS Choir Club).

Organized by CHS Alumni Association, the event aims to reunite with fellow schoolmates and teachers. Apart from the nostalgic feeling, the singers had fun performing the pieces with a live band and participated in the event video named “忆~ 青春”.

With all the lovely people, delicious foods, games, it was definitely a night to celebrate & remember.

International Medical University 2016 Promenade

As the first gig of the year, we are determined to make IMU’s Prom Night a memorable one. To fulfill the event’s request of fusing choral singing and acoustic genre, we added a percussion and guitar as our supporting instruments.  

The singers performed the then top hits “Lay Me Down” & “Just Give Me A Reason”. Surprisingly, we managed to grab the audience’s attention and got them to sing along. It was a wonderful night, definitely much better if we could perform more songs for their dancing session to make the dance floor and lovely couples more engaged 🙂

Kuala Lumpur Eco Film Festival 2015

Also known as “KLEFF”, we are super proud and honoured to be invited as one of the guest performers of this annual film festival alongside 19 other talented performers.

KLEFF is Malaysia’s first and longest-serving platform promoting sustainable living through showcases of environmentally-themed films, programs, audio-visual materials and activities. The singers performed “Let It Be” & “Man in The Mirror” during the entertainment session.

We had a great evening performing at Centro Mall Klang for the Mid-Autumn Carnival Car Boot Sale. It was joyful to see families and friends hanging around and enjoying our music performances as well!

One Utama Chinese New Year Greetings

Astro Kah Lai Toi Mid-Autumn Festival

The singers made their second TV appearance on the same year for Astro Kah Lai Toi, after the channel is being rebranded from Astro Jia Yu.

It is uncommon to see the festival being celebrated with choral singing. Not sure if we are the first one but it was definitely a unique experience with a list of distinctive song choices.

This round of performance, we were no longer shy and sentimental.

Astro Jia Yu Chinese New Year Celebration

Believe it or not, The Singaholics made it first TV appearance at Astro Jia Yu channel. Both nervous and excited, we performed a serious of CNY songs during the pre-recording session.

Alongside us, we are accompanied by musicians from a Chinese Orchestra band, delivering our performance in a traditional style. Hope we have done well in entertaining the audience and helping the channel to upload the CNY mood!
